Lina has been teaching piano for 30 years in the South Bay. In addition to teaching, she is a choir director and a volunteering teacher of the Magic of Music program at Walteria Elementary School in Torrance. She has been a church organist since thirteen, currently at Hundred and Three Saints Korean Catholic Church in Torrance. She is also an accompanist for the Young Violinists Program at Palos Verdes Regional Orchestra. Lina has received her Bachelors in Arts in Music Education and Masters in Piano Performance at CSU Long Beach. Her teachers include Konstantin Sirounian (a former pupil of Aram Khatchaturian), Delores Stevens, Valentina Gottlieb(her teacher lines trace back to Nikolai Medtner) and Anli Tong( a former pupil of Vitaly Margulis and Mieczyslaw Munz). She has performed in concerts in Austria, Czech Republic and was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Her most recent accomplishment was to competed and be selected to perform Mozart d minor piano concerto, 3rd movt with La Sinfonietta at Zipper Hall, Colburn School of Music. Lina is currently a Sonatina/Sonata Competition Chair of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT) Which affiliates to MTNA and MTNA Foundation and Endowment Chair. Lina has been a member of South Bay MTAC since 1996 serving as Chairmen for Overall CM, Keyboard Theory, 1st Vice President(Membership), 2nd Vice President(Program), CM Branch Honors, Jr. Bach Festival, Jr. Baroque Recital and Outreach Liasons for Torrance Public School. Currently, she's chairing for the Student Recitals. She is also a contributory member at Torrance MTAC Branch. Lina is serving as an adjudicator for the National Guild of Piano Teachers, MTAC, CAPMT/ MTNA events. Her students have received awards in piano competitions such as Artist of the Future Concerto Competition, Bellflower Concerto Competition, SYMF and Jr. Bach Festival(Branch, Regional and Complete Works Levels). She maintains a busy and vibrant piano studio in Torrance and enjoys spending time with her family and Dambee, the Maltese.
